New Premier Teams Are Just the Beginning for WSC Under Coach Attila

As many of you know, this fall we have just launched a new Premier team at Washingtonville Soccer Club. The ’02-’04 Boys team has improved steadily during the fall season and our Director of Coaching Attila Nyiri is looking forward to much greater progress as we move indoors for the winter. From our Developmental program launched last Spring to our revamped Snoopy program and new Travel and Premier Teams, our club is doing everything we can to offer the best possible training to players of all levels in our club.

“Our Developmental players will be receiving professional coaching beginning at age 7 until they age out of the program at 11,” says Coach Attila. “This is the same program being implemented in Barcelona and other elite soccer clubs throughout the world.” The Developmental pool of players will go on to play on new and existing Travel and Premier teams as they progress in age and skill level. All teams will be united under our one club methodology, which Coach Attila learned during his years coaching throughout Europe in Spain, Germany, Hungary and Romania.

With this training, and with our 3 D’s -- discipline, dedication, and devotion – our players have every reason to believe they can obtain scholarships and invitations to professional clubs. Just last week, Mimi Smith, a 14-year-old player who trained with Coach Attila using this methodology for about 6 years, was invited to try out for the Tottenham Hotspurs. Mimi’s mom writes, "They loved her, especially her foot skills and love of the ball... They put her on the first team and she fit in like a glove. Some of the team members thought she was from one of the other WSL teams as she was so good... Coach Attila was the catalyst that made Mimi believe in herself and made her love the ball." Although Mimi declined the offer to join the program at this time, they have invited her to return again next year.

Other players working with Coach Attila have had similarly exciting offers. Attila also has plans to launch a National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) team at WSC in the future, when our players have developed further. We look forward to bringing these exciting plans to fruition in the years to come for the benefit of all our current and future players and their families.
